Nominate a Deserving Manager or
Facility for a 2014 TurnKey Award
The 2014 TurnKey Awards recognize outstanding newly ren- ovated or built laboratory animal facilities and laboratory animal professionals who set the bar high. Do you know a manager or facility that meets this criteria? Nominate them
for the 2014 TurnKey Awards, sponsored by ALN® Magazine and ALN
World™. The TurnKey Awards are comprised of two categories.
The Facility of the Year Award recognizes outstanding achievements in the design/build of a new or renovated laboratory animal facility. The award is intended to showcase new ideas and accomplishments
in facility design, construction, and operation.
The successful nomination should include a case study of the
project including goals, scope of the project, any special requirements
or restrictions that had to be considered, new ideas or technology that
were incorporated, compliance issues, and the communication and co-
ordination between the different stakeholders involved in the project.
The Facility Leader of the Year Award recognizes laboratory animal
professionals who exhibit outstanding leadership and promote the highest standards in the care and use of laboratory animals. The successful
nominee should be in a supervisory capacity; place a strong emphasis
on high standards of animal care, quality of services, and compliance;
manage and motivate staff; and inspire his/her staff and peers.
The nomination deadline for these awards is January 15, 2014 and
winners will be notified by February 4, 2014. A plaque of achievement will
be presented at the TurnKey Awards luncheon during the conference along
with an announcement appearing in ALN® Magazine and ALN World™.
For those of you interested in attending the TurnKey Conference,
held on May 13-14, 2014 in National Harbor, MD, this year’s conference promises to be the best ever. The conference features something
for everyone with its two tracks; one on facility design and one on
Laboratory Animal Medicine. The Facility Design track is essential for
anyone building, renovating, or operating a laboratory animal facility
and the Laboratory Animal Medicine track focuses on the challenges of
animal surgery, anesthesia, and monitoring.
